![]() ![]() The levels get harder and harder as you progress. The Single Player aspect of the game is easy to control, with Gravity Guy automatically running, you are only required to tap anywhere on the screen to flip gravity. Out of the list of games that the Windows Phone 7 offers, Gravity Guy jumps out as the one to spend time upon. You decide to pull out your mighty Windows Phone 7. Here is your scenario: You're sat, in a waiting room, bored as a boy in a girls bedroom. The game play is great, provides everything you would expect from a platformer, the run on effect level to level is great, no need for menus or selecting a new level. ![]() Luckily, every short while there are checkpoints, which act as "new levels" however you are still in the same run. The longer you go without stopping the faster you get. But, isn't that tricky? Very, this game requires a lot of skill and precision. You need to go up a step? Flip gravity to go above and then flip again to come back down. Flip gravity you may ask? The whole purpose of this game is to flip gravity so you land on the opposite platform above. However the only way for him to catch you is if you don't flip gravity, which prevents your character from moving, the enemy will then come and warp you. What makes this hard is that you have an enemy behind you which will soon warp you up if he catches up with you. This seems relatively easy however there are blocks which are determined to terminate your path. With Gravity Guy, you are simply sprinting down labyrinths of a huge long path, trying to reach the next checkpoint without dying. You have to remember that when you're paying a couple of quid, for a game on a small screen, along with any limitations, you can't expect astonishing sound effects and graphics. Not forgetting local Multiplayer is abundantly competitive. For £2.29 you get a jam packed game with endless levels and modes, all with Xbox Live features. Enter Gravity Guy, a small but mighty and clever game from Miniclip. Super Mario has had countless sequels and prequels, it is clear that everyone loves him. Splosion' Man on Xbox Live Arcade was a great hit, so great it even got followed up with a sequel. Seriously, everybody loves a good platformer. Please Note: Review may contain spoilers. Earning enough coins to unlock or purchase what you want does require some effort but it's not an excruciating grind by any means, nor does it take so little effort that it becomes boring.Players: Single Player - One, Multiplayer - 2-4 It can be tough to strike a balance between being way too easy and taking far too long, but Gravity Guy 2 hits the sweet spot. I also have to give Miniclip credit for the way they've managed to balance all the coin collecting and character unlocking. The characters are a particularly big draw - they each offer up their own special abilities like automatic respawning after a failure or building up huge combos. It takes some practice but it feels really great stringing a bunch of them together to rack up a massive score.Ĭollecting Coins and gems found in out-of-the-way portions of the track contributes to a set of between-mission goals, and also gives you the dough needed to buy a variety of power-ups and new characters. ![]() There are glowing green spots on some platforms that grant a significant score boost if you can time it perfectly to get Guy to land on them. It's kind-of a pain to learn, but I eventually did start to have fun with the indirect jump controls. There's a mid-air boost that can be activated for a little extra course correction, but for the most part you have to hope you land where you want. Instead you have to hold the screen to raise the platform then let go in order to drop it, timing your upward momentum to launch you to the next patch of ground. This new mechanic is pretty difficult to adjust to since there's no actual jump button. As Guy ceaselessly runs, you fling him over pits and obstacles by raising and lowering the platforms he runs across. Gravity Guy 2 is all about platform control. ![]()
